Pacific Oncology joined with Oregon Health & Science University
On Jun. 27, 2008, Oregon Health & Science University announced it had agreed to buy Pacific Oncology, merging the well known medical practice specializing in cancer treatment with its own cancer institute, and expanding its reach in one of the more profitable medical specialties.
Pacific Oncology employed 9 physicians, four nurse practitioners, and about 160 additional staff, who serve about 8,000 patients annually. The practice provides clinical care, radiation and chemotherapy services for all all types of adult cancer.
The combination is being accomplished through an asset purchase by OHSU for between $5.5 and $7 million.
