In 2002, ViaGen was founded in Austin, Texas in to provide commercial bovine, equine, and porcine gene banking, cloning, and genomics services.

Today, ViaGen is part of Trans Ova Genetics. The company, based in Cedar Park, Texas, began cloning animals in 2003 focused initially on livestock and equine animals. In 2016, ViGen launched Its Pets division, which offers cloning services for dogs and cats using similar processes.
