On Jun. 16, 1998, University of Washington Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC) and Seattle Children’s announced the formation of Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA).

SCCA opened its first outpatient clinic in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood on February 10, 2001. It grew from a single location to a network of treatment centers in the Puget Sound region encompassing hematology/medical oncology, radiation oncology and infusion outpatient services. It also had network affiliations with hospitals in five states, connecting community-based physicians with the latest cancer research and treatment options from SCCA to elevate cancer care in the community.

On April 1, 2022, the Hutch and the SCCA announced a merger, creating an organization that aims to bring scientific advances to patients faster, and deepens longstanding ties with UW Medicine.
