Roche announced the closure of the Nutley/Clifton campus

, ,

On Jun. 26, 2012, Roche announced it had closed the Nutley plant, established in 1929. The Nutley plant employed 10,000 people.

In 2011, Roche moved top U.S. executives as well as its sales and marketing operations to South San Francisco, the home of its giant biotechnology company, Genentech.

Roche retains responsibility for the environmental cleanup of the former Roche Nutley site. A dedicated Roche team is working under the oversight of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP). As part of this work, Roche is required to take regular groundwater measurements and samples from various wells installed both on-site and on several streets in Clifton/Nutley.
