On Aug. 1, 1994, the ZymoGenetics Lake Union Steam Plant and Hydro House were designated City of Seattle landmarks.

The historic renovation of the Hydro House, created an exceptional architectural gem and retail amenity, in the heart of the Eastlake Life Science Campus by Alexandria. The project’s sophisticated contemporary interior design, furniture selection and handcrafted finishes, combine the qualities and historical significance of the landmarked building, with the look and feel of a social club / crew house to create a welcoming and vibrant community space, offering unique interior, and exterior spaces for gathering.

Construction was completed in Jun. 1994. On Aug. 1, the ZymoGenetics Lake Union Steam Plant and Hydro House were designated a City of Seattle landmark, and on Sept. 8, ZymoGenetics dedicated Seattle’s historic Lake Union Steam Plant. The renovated 113,000 s.f. plant doubled Zymo’s current facility footage.
