CPRIT invested $63 million to bring innovative researchers and companies to Texas
On Nov. 15, 2023, the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) announced that it had approved $63 million in grants that include recruitment of a cancer researcher from Switzerland and an Israeli company developing a new product to ease the burden on breast cancer patients.
Of the 29 grants approved by the Oversight Committee, significant awards included the first CPRIT Scholar award to Southern Methodist University in Dallas, state funding for Baylor Research Institute to join a major National Cancer Institute study, and numerous targeted TREC awards to cancer research centers outside major Texas metropolitan areas.
