On Oct. 17, 2017, Norman “Ned” Sharpless was sworn in as the 15th Director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Prior to his appointment, Sharpless was director of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
