In 2009, Drs. Judith James and Linda Thompson at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) helped develop an H1N1 or ‘swine flu’ vaccine.

Swine flu is a respiratory virus that normally affects only pigs, but it has spread to humans in Mexico, the United States and several other countries.

The swine flu is an H1N1 virus, named for the type of proteins on the surface of the virus. OMRF researchers have produced 67 antibodies that bind to H1N1 viruses, and they hope one will work against the new swine strain.
