On Mar. 30, 2020, the Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Comfort to join COVID-19 fight in New York City. More than 120 Reserve volunteers were selected to support the Comfort’s deployment to New York City.

The Comfort served as a referral hospital for non-COVID-19 patients admitted to shore-based hospitals, allowing shore-based hospitals to focus their efforts on COVID-19 cases.
