In 1995, Bristol-Myers’ Wallingford, Connecticut facility was named the Richard L. Gelb Center for Pharmaceutical Research and Development after the former Bristol-Myers (BM) chairman and CEO. Gelb was the president of the company from 1967 to 1976, CEO from 1972 to 1993, and chair from 1976 to 1995.

The company announced announced in June 2015 that it would close its 982,000-square-foot research, doing so three years later when the facility was demolished in 2018.
