In 1964, the Mexican Agriculture Program (MAP) was the The Rockefeller Foundationメs first intensive agricultural endeavor begun in 1943 when it signed a formal agreement with the Mexican government, which established a new department, the Office of Special Studies to coordinate the program. In 1964, based on its success with International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in India, the Rockefeller Foundation initiated its second International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) in Mexico.
