The Duke University Primate Center (Duke Lemur Center) was established

In 1966, the Duke University Primate Center, now known as the Duke Lemur Center, was established on 80 wooded acres, two miles from the main Duke campus. The centerメs primary objective was research, and conservation in Madagascar was an important aspect of their work. Today, it houses nearly 250 individuals across 21 species.
