On Nov. 7, 2005, the National Cancer Institute launched a cancer biorepository pilot project designed to standardize biospecimen collection and management among investigators of the NCI’s prostate cancer Specialized Programs of Research Excellence. The project was expected to enhance the quality and availability of various biospecimens and associated data for the broader scientific community.
