On Nov. 30, 2020, Lonza announced $10 million investment in its Bend, Oregon facility. Originally known as Bend Research, the company was acquired by Lonza in 2017 from its parent company Capsugel. The company was founded in 1975 by Harry Lonsdale and Richard Baker

The new suites for the development and clinical manufacture of drug product intermediates and drug products utilizing spray-drying, hot-melt extrusion and melt-spray-congeal processing was scheduled for completion by May 2022.
