First international collaboration on Alzheimer’s disease genetics was launched

On Jan. 31, 2011, the first international collaboration on Alzheimer’s disease genetics was launched. The International Genomics of Alzheimer’s Project (IGAP) was a collaboration formed to discover and map the genes that contribute to Alzheimer’s disease announced by a multi-national group of researchers.

Participants included: The Institute Pasteur de Lille and Lille University, Boston University, Cardiff University and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. The primary goal of IGAP was to completely understand the role inheritance plays in Alzheimer’s disease.
