On Dec. 13, 2022, Texas Biomed announced that it had been designated as a prime contractor by the U.S. Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), part of the Administration for Strategic Preparedness.

The designation opened Texas Biomed to a portfolio of up to $100 million in funding over five years through the BARDA. Fewer than 15 labs nationwide ﾖ now including Texas Biomed as the only one in the state ﾖ are part of BARDAﾒs Nonclinical Biological Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Network.
