Scientists demonstrated DNA from terrestrial animals can be filtered, amplified and sequenced from air

On Feb. 7, 2022, scientists working with the Queen Mary University of London and the London Genome Centre demonstrated that DNA from terrestrial animals can be filtered, amplified, and then sequenced from air.

Air samples taken at the Hamerton Zoo Park contained DNA from 25 species of mammals and birds, including 17 known terrestrial resident zoo species.
