University of Pennsylvania $1.5 billion Hospital Pavilion construction allowed to continue

On Mar. 20, 2020, the University of Pennsylvania announced that Pavilion project construction would be allowed to continue under Governor Tom Wolf’s emergency mandate during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Pavillion broke ground on the $1.5 billion new hospital on Penn Medicine’s West Philadelphia campus in May 2017. The Pavilion, will house inpatient care for the Abramson Cancer Center, heart and vascular medicine and surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, and a new emergency department. The facility, the largest capital project in Penn’s history, was expected to be completed in 2021.
