On Jun. 30, 2016, The Foundation for Blood Research (FBR), a small, independent and nonprofit blood laboratory lead by Jane Sheehan closed its doors.

The FBR, located in Scarborough served physicians and small hospitals in Maine for 43 years, It’s closure was due to the acquisition of small hospitals and physicians by larger hospitals, and subsequent move of laboratory testing into the newly merged facilities.
