The CDC activated its Emergency Operations Center for Tropical Storm Ernesto
Aug. 24, 2024, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) activated its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to support public health needs in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Ernesto. Ernesto developed from a tropical wave off the coast of Venezuela.
Three days later, it grew to a category 1 hurricane near Haiti before weakening as it moved across Cuba as a tropical storm. Ernesto made landfall in Brunswick County, North Carolina on August 31, 2006.
