On Dec. 15, 2003, the Pearson Center for Research on Alcoholism and Addiction was established at the Scripps Research Institute with a $3 million anonymous gift given in memory of her parents who were lost to alcoholism and addiction and on behalf of other family members and friends who have suffered, directly or indirectly, from the devastating consequences of this disease.
