BOTOX(R) cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) approved by the FDA
On Apr. 15, 2002, BOTOX(R) cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA), manufactured by Allergan, was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows in patients age 18-65.
BOTOX secured its first FDA approval in 1989 as a treatment for two rare eye muscle disorders, making it the first product of its kind approved in the world.
