The Stowers Institute for Medical Research opened its doors
In 2000, the Stowers Institute for Medical Research opened its doors. The Institute was founded by Jim and Virginia Stowers with a $500 million donation. Over the next decade, the couple endowed the institute with gifts totaling almost $2 billion.
Situated on the former campus of the Menorah Medical Center in Kansas City, MO, the 600,000-square-foot research facility provides state-of-the-art laboratories, equipment and technical support, and collaboration between scientists.
