Michael Smith was awarded Nobel Prize in Chemistry
In 1993, Dr. Michael Smith of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver was awarded the 1993 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for contributions to the developments of methods within DNA-based chemistry, specifically for his fundamental contributions to the establishment of oligonucleotide-based, site-directed mutagenesis and its development for protein studies.
