In 1991, Stoddard Cancer Center, now part of UnityPoint Health, opened at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

In 1990, John Stoddard, a real estate developer and entrepreneur, donated $4 million to the Iowa Methodist Medical Center’s new cancer center. In recognition of his generosity, the center was named the John Stoddard Cancer Center.
