In 1986, BC Transplant (BCT) was established. BCT directs, delivers or contracts for all organ transplant services across Britsih Columbia.

BCT is funded principally through the BC Ministry of Health Services, and is an agency of the Provincial Health Services Authority. BC Transplant Foundation is an officially recognized charitable organization.
