Community Clinical Oncology Program was created
In 1983, the Community Clinical Oncology Program, an National Cancer Institute (NCI) resource that links community-based physicians with cooperative groups and cancer centers for participation in institute-approved clinical trials, was created.
The NCI established the National Cancer Institute Community Cancer Centers Program in 2007 with an aim of enhancing access to high-quality cancer care and clinical research in the community setting where most cancer patients receive their treatment.
