In 1972, the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center, now known as the Duke Cancer Institute (DCI), was established in Durham and designated by the Nantional Cancer Institute as one of the first comprehensive cancer centers. The DCI serves as the focus for all of Duke Universityﾒs activities in cancer.
