In 1933, the Statistical Laboratory at Iowa State was established as the first research and consulting institute of its kind in the country.

Early emphasis on agriculture data analysis has continued, however the laboratory’s range of activities now includes statistical applications in social, physical, engineering and biological sciences for clients world-wide.
