The Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Marie Curie
On Nov. 7, 1911, Marie Curie’s birthday (born 1867), she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry “in recognition of her services to the advancement of chemistry by the discovery of the elements radium and polonium, by the isolation of radium and the study of the nature and compounds of this remarkable element”
In 1903 Marie and her husband Pierre were awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics jointly with Professor Becquerel for their combined though separate work on radioactivity.
