The University of Southern California College of Medicine was established

On Oct. 6, 1880, University of Southern California College of Medicine (USC) was established, the first in Southern California and the oldest. USC was founded following the efforts of Judge Robert M. Widney, who helped secure donations from several key figures in early Los Angeles history.

The school opened it’s doors with an enrollment of 53 students and a faculty of 10.
