The Stanford Research Park was created
In 1951, the Stanford Research Park was created in response to the demand for industrial land near university resources and an emerging electronics industry tied closely to the prominent electronics department at Stanford. The Research Park is now home to more than 150 companies in electronics, software, life science, and other advanced technology fields. The Park. now occupies some 10 million square feet in more than 160 buildings.
