The Hygienic Laboratory changed its name to the National Institute (singular) of Health

In 1930, the Hygienic Laboratory changed its name to the National Institute (singular) of Health and authorized the establishment of fellowships for biological and medical research.

In 1937 this Labs work was placed in a newly established Division of Biologics Control. In 1944 this division was redesignated the Laboratory of Biologics Control.
