On Feb. 28, 2020, the FDA approved an application for the first generic of Daraprim (pyrimethamine) tablets for the treatment of toxoplasmosis when used with a sulfonamide.

The sponsor of the approved generic version of Daraprim Tablets is Cerovene Inc. Daraprim is made by Vyera Pharma, formerly known as Turing Pharmaceuticals which acquiredthe U.S. rights to Daraprim in 2015 and raised the price of the drug to $750 per tablet from $17.50.
