In 1285, spectacles were invented in Italy using convex lenses for the farsighted. The “Glasses Apostle” painting in the church of Bad Wildungen, Germany was painted by Conrad von Soest in 1403, “Glasses Apostle” is considered one of the oldest depictions of eyeglasses.
