In 2006, San Diego Consortium for Regenerative Medicine was established as a California non-profit corporation and a 501(c)(3) exempt organization.

It operates as a ‘collaboratory’ that brings together under one roof scientists from five world-class research institutions – the La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology, the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, Scripps Research, and the University of California, San Diego.
