On Feb. 22, 2018, OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital was verified as a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and a Level 1 Site for Children’s Surgery, according to the American College of Surgeons.

To achieve Level 1 verification, OHSU Doernbecher had to meet the rigorous capability and performance guidelines set forth by the ACS for multidisciplinary, high-quality trauma and surgery care tailored to the needs of children of every age, size and diagnosis.

In addition to a pediatric emergency department staffed by trauma-verified physicians, nurses and ancillary staff, OHSU Doernbecher is home to the state’s sole children-only operating rooms. Here, physicians, nurses, anesthesiologists and their teams have specialized training in pediatric surgical care and conduct nearly 9,000 procedures annually.
