In 1946, In a period of 8 months, Robert J. Huebner, William L. Jellison, and their colleagues elucidated a new disease, rickettsialpox, in cooperation with New York State health authorities. They described the disease, its etiological agent, its reservoir in mice, and its vector, a rodent mite.
