On Jul. 1, 2021, Moderna confirmed that following the European Medicines Agencyﾒs (EMA) Committee for Human Medicines (CHMP) approval of the Recipharm Monts site on Jun. 11, 2021, drug product manufacture of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at the site in France had begun.

Modernaﾒs partnership with Recipharm expanded its global manufacturing capacity and was expected to enable a doubling of drug substance manufacturing in Europe.
