Medical College of Georgia researchers identified transcranial Doppler as first noninvasive method to identify children with sickle cell disease at risk for stroke
On Feb. 27, 1992, Dr. Robert Adams and Dr. Virgil C. McKie of the Medical College of Georgia published “The Use of Transcranial Ultrasonography to Predict Stroke in Sickle Cell Disease” in the New England Journal of Medicine.
Adams and McKie identified transcranial Doppler as first noninvasive, painless method to identify children with sickle cell disease at risk for stroke.
