On Sept. 27, 2011, the Mayo Clinic announced a $120 million plan to open its first medical school outside of Rochester, Minn. in Scottsdale, in a partnership with Arizona State University (ASU).

Since 2003, the Mayo Clinic and ASU have worked together on joint nursing education, collaborative research projects, joint faculty appointments and dual degree programs.
