In 1995, Ivan R. Sabel was appointed president and CEO of Hanger Orthopedic Group. In 1968, Ivan R. Sabel founded Capital Orthopedics. In 1986, Colorado-based Sequel Corporation acquired Capital Orthopedics.

As President and CEO, Hanger acquired nearly 100 companies, including J.E. Hanger, Inc. of Georgia (Hanger Southeast), doubling the company’s size and adding SPS, the world’s largest distributor of orthotic and prosthetic materials.
