International research alliance launched to boost pandemic preparedness
On Aug. 27, 2020, scientists at Scripps Research announced they were partnering with peers in the U.S. and West Africa, a region of the world where infectious diseases are a high burden on public health.
The five-year grant $8.9 million grant, awarded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, will establish the West African Emerging Infectious Disease Research Center, bringing together clinicians, epidemiologists, bioinformaticians and biologists from the U.S., Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Liberia and Senegal.
