Genome Alberta was established

In 2005, Genome Alberta, was established in partnership with Genome Canada Industry Canada and the Province of Alberta, to focus on genomics as one of the central components of the Life Sciences Initiative in Alberta, and to help position genomics as a core research effort.

By working collaboratively with all levels of government, universities, and industry, Genome Alberta is a catalyst for a strong life sciences sector with social and economic benefits for Alberta and for Canada.
