Dr. Oscar Craven assumed charge of Cincinnati’s Department of Health

On Oct. 15, 1918, after Health Officer Dr. William H. Peters fell ill with influenza, Dr. Oscar Craven assumed charge of Cincinnati’s Department of Health and implemented new policies to stem the epidemic.

Craven’s first order was to have hotels remove chairs and sofas from their lobbies and parlor floors to prevent lingering and crowding.
