CDC reported first human infection in 2024 with an influenza virus from pigs

On Mar. 29, 2024, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported the first U.S. human infection in 2024 with an influenza A(H1N2) variant (v) virus that normally circulates in pigs.

This infection was detected in a person living near a pig farm in Pennsylvania who had direct contact with pigs.ᅠThe person was hospitalized and recovered from their illness. No person-to-person spread of this virus was identified.
