On Dec. 22, 2023, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) projected the JN.1 variant of SARS-CoV-2 to account for 39-50% of circulating variants in the U.S. The CDC continued to track JN.1 and other emerging variants, in close collaboration with partners around the world.
