Boston Emergency Committee recommended all places of public amusement be closed indefinitely

On Sept. 25, 1918, Boston Mayor Andrew J. Peters appointed an Emergency Committee to advise and empower the Boston’s health commissioner Dr. William C. Woodward to centralize command of the city’s healthcare resources, and to interface with state and other agencies.

The Committee recommended all places of public amusement be closed indefinitely.
