On Aug. 19, 2014, Baxter announced it planned to expand its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Opelika, to help address the growing global demand for dialyzers, a critical component used in hemodialysis therapy.

Baxter planned to invest nearly $300 million and add 230,000 s.f. and several production lines to the faciity.
