Antimicrobial Resistance Laboratory Network established by U.S. CDC

In 2016, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced the establishment of the Antimicrobial Resistance (AR) Laboratory Networks to support lab testing in health care, the community, and the environment (e.g., water, soil).

CDC’s AR Lab Network is an effort between U.S. healthcare facility labs and public health department labs, regional labs and the National Tuberculosis Molecular Surveillance Center and CDC. The AR Lab Network works with laboratories nationwide to identify, track, and respond to emerging and enduring antimicrobial-resistant threats. This work ultimately improves patient care, enhances public health, and informs solutions against resistance threats.
